Organoid Academic report meeting

On the afternoon of April 16th and 17th, at the invitation of Professor Jun Yang , Prof. Ye Kaiming who is the Department Chair Of Biomedical Engineering, Professor of Pharmaceutic Sciences, and Director of the Center of Biomanufacturi-Ng for Regenerative Medicine at the Binghamton University (BU), State University of New York (SUNY) , Prof. Shay Soker who is the Professor of Regenerative Medicine, Cancer Biology, Physiology & Pharmacology and Biomedical Engineering at the Wake Forest School of Medicine and Prof. Yuanyuan Zhang who is a Director of Tissue Therapy and Associate Professor in the Wake Forest Institute for Regeneration Medicine (WFIRM) at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina in USA , made three academic reports on the organoid direction in the lecture hall on the first floor of BioStation , Nankai University.

Professor Yuanyuan Zhang's first report, the subject of the report is “Kidney Organoids of Patient-Sourced Urinary Stem Cells for Studying Diabetics Renal Diseases”. Prof. Ye Kaiming introduced his work with the theme of Biofabrication of Glucose-Responsive Pancreatic Islets from Human Pluripotent Stem Cells. Professor Shay Soker's report is entitled: Organ Bioengineering for Clinical and Research Applications.

One of the key developments in stem cell research over the past decade has been the development of organoid systems. This type of in-vitro culture system provides a highly physiologically relevant system that provides researchers with a highly reliable and scalable platform for the study of various organs and was selected by Nature Methods as the 2017 most visible and influential technology.
